The downgrading of premiere status, by no more offering to choose the seat in Economy Plus at the time of booking in effort to sell the premiere seating to those without status is causing me to forget about my loyality for UA. I am very disappointed. To get the desired seat for my next flights I was paying for them now, but for the future I am on a search for alternatives and I hope, that many Silver Elite Members are doing the same. In addition the 2nd free checkin luggage for Silver Elite Members is no more available, but has to be paid with 70 each way now!And to be hold over hours (!) at a phonecall on waiting line is disrespecting their own customers! For me the mileage plus program has degenerated to useless since I no longer get an economyplus seat at purchase. The number of seats available for upgrade with miles is so limited they are almost impossible to get, and that's the only worth for me to spend miles and now this downgrading of Economy Plus in addition!

Woah! If you want to fly longhaul in coach, fly any other airline other than United. Seriously. From checkin to bag collection, this flea-bitten US carrier showed its total lack of charm. Checkin in Melbourne was grim: a long winding line where everyone seemed to have piles of luggage. Takeoff time was approaching, and I did ask if I could leap the queue instead of missing my flight: but it turned out everyone was on the same plane I was. Thankfully security at MEL is quick, and I had a chance to nip into the Red Carpet Club, which was the best part of the trip: it’s clean and tidy, one of the best in the network! And even with free food! However as I go onboard, I was prepared for the usual older United aircraft. I did hope for some decent movies, but as I sat down, on the seatback infront of me, there was nothing but the seat cloth and tray. Forget having AVOD – there wasnot even a seatback TV screen! In this day, all there was was a projection TV, which showed one movie, and then we were expected to sleep for the next 12 hours of the flight. Food was abysmal. No complementary beverages any more of course. Arrived in the Bay Area early, but then had to wait nearly three hours for my bad to turn up. Next time I will fly Qantas who have modern aircraft and seatback TV.

I was really worried about taking the trans-con redeye post the merger with Continental, but I need not have worried. Checkin online a breeze & found my upgrade to First had cleared: access to the United First Club in LAX thanks to this; great meals in here, so had dinner before walking on. Settled down for a great sleep in the international fled bed seats, woke as we neared JFK, small breakfast onboard, in the office for 8am. Couldnt be better, well done United. PS service is still the best.

What is with the attitude United? Going for a weekend away in the Caribbean, and you pretty much made me suffer the entire way. Why? I don't get it. Is there some switch in the FAs heads which turns them into sullen-droid as soon as they start work. Charge for bag, wait in line, wait in line, charge for bag, not over there. It took over an hour to check in bags, and then I had to wait another hour before getting through security which means I almost missed the flight. Was last to board, and ended up having to check in my carry on too as all the overheads were full. Miserable flight: the trolley rushed down the isle and you felt you were doing them a real inconvenience stopping it asking for a beer. Their CC machine would not take my credit card, even though it works fine in every other machined. Ended up having to using my wifes. They made it clear that they felt it was my fault. Finally, my bags never turned up! Ended up having them delivered to me at home a week later. Bad through and through.

I often drive from Mineappolis to Chicago: it takes quite a few hours, but for once I decided to fly. United were very cheap, checkin a breeze, good to see a Red Carpet Club has opened again at MSP. Quick, on time flight. Got me to my destination with minimal hassle. Recommend.

I flew from London to Mineapolis, and could not be happier, onboard a 757, connecting in CLT. The plane barely had 5 passengers in First, leaving for seat choice to me. The seats were comfortable, wide and clean. The personal TV was big in size and had many options to choose from.T he female hosts were polite and caring, except one male who told me to leave the economy cabin in a rude way when I went in before takeoff, and return to my seat. At Gatwick I was expecting to use the US Airways club, but that has now closed, and instead I was given a voucher for a contact lounge which was vastly better than an US Airways Club: it is worth going via London just for this club. The only downside of flying First was the price, which was more than ten times coach.

Standard domestic 1st class seats, little legroom, but otherwise comfortable. SJU-CLT on B767, angled lie-flat seats in pods. Meals decent on all flights; service friendly and attentive. All flights on time and the fare, a little over $1,000, was more than reasonable. A medical problem caused us to delay continuing CLT-SFO by a full day. We were not charged for changing flights; and our bags, checked at SJU for SFO, were quickly retrieved from the US Airways baggage service upon arrival at SFO.
