Turkish Airlines Review: OK ish airline, but needs attention to details
Value for Money
Turkish Airlines has a lot of room for improvement, that's for sure, but all in all this is a pretty decent airline with some refining needed around the edges. The food was quite good, with real utensils and complimentary wine, beer, and sports were much appreciated as were the multiple meals. In economy class you're also given a kit including slippers, socks, eye mask, toothbrush, toothpaste, and lip balm. Pillows and blankets of course are also provided. The flight crew was a bit inconsistent, some were very friendly and helpful while others were more gruff. I had one flight attendant stick his finger in my glass of wine to throw it in the rubbish before even asking if I was finished. There is in free flight screen at the individual seats with headphones provided, which is a good job as my tablet was confiscated and gate checked and there was no functioning wifi on the flight. Further the process of checking and obtaining your electronic devices at the luggage pick up adds a lot of time to the flight as I generally carry all my luggage on. There is really no advantage to carrying on it if you travel with an iPad, laptop, or Kindle, as it certainly doesn't save you any time. Turkish really should encourage people to check their electronics in their luggage and perhaps provide free wifi, guarantee them in the event of theft, or provide other perks for its international flights (and make sure it's working) as this was a significant impediment to my trip experience.
