Airreviews opinion
Singapore Airlines: a three star airline
► International Business Class Seat is usual, very wide. Food is novel, with an in flight buffet Lounges substandard, with few facilities.
► International Economy Class Seat is OK, but not leading the pack. Entertainment Ok, when it works - which is rare Food & Drinks so-so food: not really the best. Fee bar is good. Aircraft often are overbooked, with a high likelihood of being bumped.

I have flown on Premium Economy on quite a few flights and used Singapore Airlines to travel to and from Tokyo. There are some good and bad things andThe good:Inflight entertainment is pretty decent, with a large screen.Service is always excellentCleanliness of aircraft can't be faultedPriority boarding is respectedThe bad:The food is only tolerable and is economy food not really what you expect when you pay three times the price. No amenities kits on daytime flights. No curtain between economy and premium economy. So, it's expensive for effectively economy, but it does get you there.

I found that Virgin Australia were selling much cheaper tickets for Singapore Airlines flights than Singapore Airlines itself. I flew Brisbane to Singapore and then Chennai, all in Singapore Airlines. All those flights were excellent. The food was good, except the Chennai to Singapore sector, considering it was leaving India we were given pasta rather than curry (a very small thing but I'd have loved a curry). Service was always professional and helpful. Aircraft left on time. I usually book low cost airlines, so the Singapore virgin airlines tickets which were way cheaper than the low cost airlines was actually awesome in terms of value, service and foodentertainment.

I few Sydney to London Heathrow via Singapore in Premium Economy. Having booked the ticket online I went on to the Singapore Airlines internet site and was able to select my seat and Book the Chef meals. It was really smooth. Same at the airport with no queue for the dedicated Premium economy checking. Staff member very polite. No lounge access alas.Boarding was a breeze as Premium economy have priority with Business and First. On the plane the crew were all smiles and assisted everyone with their luggage and that is something I haven't seen for a while. Boarding was swift on both sectors, the captains introduced themselves and we left on time. Soon after the seat belt sign went off the drinks were served. I prefer being given a miniature gin and can of tonic rather than just being served it in a glass. Also no slice of lemon, first world problem? The meal service came next all served on one tray. The quality of the food was good, but very small and no different from economy. Throughout the flight FAs came around with water and if a passenger wanted a drink or snack they were provided. The crew were always polite and friendly and came when requested. The seat is more comfortable, even with the seat in front fully reclined I still had space, the screen is large and clear and the available entertainment exhaustive. We arrived early on both sectors, disembarkation was quick. I regularly fly Premium economy with other airlines over the years, Qantas. On Singapore my flight cost A3150 return, but compared to the likes of Qantas, it just didn't feel special. There are no separate toilets, the food is the same as economy, and the curtain between Premium economy and economy is not even closed.OK, not the best.

This was one of the best long haul in economy flights I've ever flown. The service is great, a regular drink tray with waters and juices being brought to you to keep you hydrated. The food was decent for economy class standards and they also offered a small snack (a sandwich) half way through the flight, and then there was a second meal. There is a small amenity pack in economy of a toothbrush and socks nothing special but still a tick in the box which some airlines have cut back on. The headrest of the seat is comfy and is made of leather which gives it class. Ambient lighting during the night hours gave a relaxed and upmarket feel. The best part of the Economy seat was the entertainment system which consisted of a large screen bigger than an iPad size and then has a small digital control below; it all works well and is also touchscreen and the quality and size is good. Overall the most comfy and best way to fly direct to Singapore from London in economy.
