Qantas introduce domestic Business Lounges

Qantas Business Lounge

The Australian airline Qantas is splitting it's Qantas Clubs into two - introducing a new Business lounge at it's main locations. In Sydney (T3), Brisbane (domestic terminal) and Melbourne (domestic) the Qantas Club now has two sides: the old club, and the new Business lounge.

Qantas Business lounges offer Business, Platinum and oneworld Emerald guests a new area in which to put your feet up before your flight, and include Private quiet work suites, free wifi internet, a signature dish menu, barista service, and showers. Beer selection is the same as the clubs, with Blue Tongue, Heineken and Crown, and is only available from 1pm.

To access the Qantas Club you can still get in if you are a Gold Frequent Flier, One World Saphire (BA Silver) or a Qantas Club member. The move to split away from the Clubs may seem odd, but then Qantas for years resisted giving Business Class customers any lounge access at all - now there are these lounges which are seen as a step up from the Clubs, and are designed to maximise revenue.

Lounge locations are at Brisbane (Enter to the right of The Qantas Club on the departure level of the domestic terminal). Here there are 118 seats available, with four Pcs, but no bathrooms. Sydney (Enter via the escalators on the departure concourse opposite gate 4) and Melbourne (via the escalator on the first floor after passing through security).

In a separate move, the Qantas Club on the Gold Coast has been closed, and it's space is going to be used as a Koru Club.
