Qantas Change Frequent Flyer Scheme

Qantas has made some slight changes to their Frequent Flyer scheme, which may have some knock on effects for members in Europe. The most significant one is that points will expire after 18 months, as opposed to the current 3 years.
Under the stange heading of "giving you more ways than ever to earn and use points", members are being sent an Email saying that from next year it is changing the way points expire. From the 1st of July 2010, points will expire if you don't earn any points or use any points. Furthermore family transfers won't count towards keeping your account active. This may be an issue for members in Europe, where it can be quite hard to travel on a Qantas flight to keep the acount active.
However members can keep the three year expiry date, if there is no activity after 1 July 2010.
Other get arounds for the expiry date problem are to make an online book purchase through itravelbooks.com.au, so long as you add your FF number on the confirm order page.
Other changes coming in are that you can earn points and Status Credits on Any seat Awards (excluding Jetstar), and you are able to upgrade Any Seat awards.
